A haunted house. A cold case. A new cop in town.

Did Edna Crayborne really see a woman getting strangled in the ground floor window of the old Bailey house?

Rosie Ryan isn’t sure. As a journalist with the Cape Carson Gazette, Rosie’s always on the lookout for a big news story. And the Bailey house does have a reputation as the most haunted house in town. After all, it’s the place where the infamous Bailey killings happened all those years ago.

Of course, that’s old history now. Or is it? Twenty years ago, Justin Bailey shot his wife dead before turning the gun on himself? Or did he? Why did other guests in the house hear three gunshots—when the gun was only fired twice?

Rosie’s determined to find out the truth—and she doesn’t have to do it alone. Helping her out is her quirky librarian friend, Kim Chen, the hunky new cop in town, Todd Parker, and Rosie’s sassy eighty-three year old Grandmother, Nan Ryan.

Rosie’s trying to catch a killer. But if she’s not careful, she could become the killer’s next victim…

Rosie Ryan was a great amateur sleuth.  I love how she used her journalist skills to find the killer.  Rosie was smart and a klutz which made her very likeable character.  I enjoyed learning more about her life and can’t wait to read more.

The supporting characters made the story.  Rosie’s friend Kim was Rosie’s complete opposite and fun.  While Rosie’s grandmother, Nan, stole the show.  I loved Nan maybe because she reminds me of a character in the book I am working on or because she reminds me of my Aunt Debbie.  She is fun and sassy and know you will like her too.

The mystery in this book was interesting.  It took a little while for the book to get going probably because the body wasn’t found for a while.  But I loved that the mystery was a murder and a house (I won’t say more to save spoilers).  While I figured out the killer before Rosie did, I felt that there were several suspects, and I did miss the reason why the killer struck.

Sun, Surf, and Murder transported me to Cape Carson, Australia.  I would love to visit and check out the bush and see the sea.

Overall, this was a great book, and I am excited to read the other two books that will be out later this year.
